Arshad Ayub, Shivlal panel vows to eradicate corruption in HCA, bring back Hyderabad's lost glory

HYDERABAD: Former cricketers Arshad Ayub and Shivlal Yadav have said that the game of cricket in the city has hit the nadir and that they will revive it once they come into power by winning the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) elections on October 20, 2023.

Arshad Ayub and Shivlal Yadav are representing a panel named 'Cricket First'. Speaking to media on Monday, Amarnath, the candidate for Cricket First's president, said that they would revive the leagues, host zonals and the Moin-ud-Dowlah tournament, and work to bring back Hyderabad's lost glory. "We will eradicate corruption in the HCA and the State teams selections will be held only on players' merit," he said.

Amarnath added that they would develop the game by building stadiums in each district of Telangana with all infrastructure.

Meanwhile, secretary candidate Sanjeev Reddy said that health cards would be given to all club secretaries and that they would be used on assignments during events in Hyderabad.

Former HCA president Arshad Ayub said that the panel would make sure they fulfill all the promises in their manifesto. "We are the stakeholders of the HCA but were not allowed into the Stadium, but we will change that. We will be a player and secretary-friendly panel. We will also make sure that former international and Ranji players get prominent places in the Stadium to watch matches. Players will get due respect," he said.

Meanwhile, former HCA secretary Shesh Narayan said that the HCA was in a mess because of Mohammad Azharuddin. He said that if they have any misunderstanding or a problem, they have to sit together and sort things out, but should not go to court. The panel members sounded confident of a resounding victory.
