HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday strongly condemned the attack on journalist Shankar by Congress-backed individuals and demanded that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy take full responsibility for the assault.
KTR visited Shankar's residence in Turkyamjal on Sunday and assured him and his family of complete support.
Speaking on the occasion, KTR warned that any harm inflicted on journalist Shankar in the future would be attributed entirely to Revanth Reddy. He mentioned that Congress members had assaulted journalist Shankar for exposing issues related to land grabbing concerning farmers in Kodangal. Fearlessly striving to reveal the truth, Shankar highlighted the government's failure and police inaction. However, the Congress leaders reacted violently by attempting on his life, which was thwarted due to the support of the locals and the presence of CCTV cameras.
Accusing the Revanth Reddy government of attacking Shankar due to an inability to tolerate the questions raised by him, KTR also condemned the local police for displaying negligence and bias by failing to register a case of an attempt to murder. As the main opposition, he stated that the BRS party would take up the issue at all levels. He urged DGP Ravi Gupta to act impartially in this matter.
KTR reminded that the previous BRS Government never resorted to physical attacks on anyone, although the opponents criticised then Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and his family members and also carried out false campaigns against the government in the last ten years. Condemning the silence of journalist associations on the attack on Shankar, KTR warned that all journalists could face a similar situation if they didn't oppose the Congress Government's oppressive measures.
KTR reassured Shankar and his family of all support. He was accompanied by several senior BRS leaders.
