Beware of fraudsters selling SRH vs CSK IPL tickets on April 5

Cyber fraudsters are sharing QR codes on WhatsApp to users and are promising to sell tickets for as low as Rs 1,000.

HYDERABAD: There has been a good response to all the league matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) being staged across the country. The first match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vs Mumbai Indians (MI) in Uppal on March 27, 2024 received an overwhelming response from the crowd after the home team posted the highest IPL score in the 16-year history of the tournament.

In this background, there has been a huge demand for tickets for the second home game between SRH and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 5. While the Rs 15,000, Rs 22,000 and Rs 30,000 tickets were sold out online on PayTM within an hour on March 26 itself, the rest of the Rs 1,500, Rs 4,000, Rs 4,500, Rs 6,000 and Rs 7500 were sold out at different ticketing venues organised by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).

Cyber fraudsters have now started selling tickets in black for the match on all social media platforms. The fraudsters are sharing QR codes on WhatsApp to users and are promising to sell tickets for as low as Rs 1,000. Users are likely to be conned on huge money if they scan the QR code.

The police have started investigating to track the cyber fraudsters and have advised people to resist from falling prey to these fraudsters.
