HYDERABAD: A criminal case has been filed on Sunday against BJP candidate Kompella Madhavi for allegedly making a gesture of shooting an imaginary arrow aimed at a mosque in Hyderabad.
Following a complaint by local resident Mohammad Sheikh Imran, police have registered an FIR against BJP Hyderabad candidate Madhavi Latha under Section 295/A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) for her 'bow and arrow' gesture.
During the Rama Navami Shobhayatra procession on April 17, 2024, Madhavi made a gesture of drawing an imaginary arrow and shooting it towards the Masjid located at the circle of Siddi Amber Bazar.
A video of BJP candidate Kompella Madhavi performing the gesture went viral on social media, sparking a wave of negative comments directed towards her.
She later retracted saying that she was being blessed by Ram and Raheem. She claimed that the mosque picture was added through morphing. However, her defence did not cut much ice with the people.
