HYDERABAD: Clinician-Scientist Prof Dr. Javed Ali of the L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) has been honoured with the prestigious ‘JC Bose Fellowship’ for Medicine, recognising his exceptional contributions in Dacryology (the science of tears) within Ophthalmology.

This fellowship, named after the eminent scientist Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, is awarded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, emphasising excellence in science and technology.

Dr. Javed Ali, a global leader in oculoplastic surgery and lacrimal drainage sciences, heads the Govindram Seksaria Institute of Dacryology at LVPEI. His illustrious career includes serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the esteemed journal Seminars in Ophthalmology, holding distinguished academic positions worldwide, and receiving accolades such as the Alexander Von Humboldt Fellowship Award and the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize. With 605 publications, including a comprehensive textbook on lacrimal surgery, Dr Javed Ali’s impact on ophthalmology is profound.
