HYDERABAD: Less than 24 hours ahead of the crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) has cut off power supply to the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal.

In a notice, the DISCOM stated the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) failed to clear electricity dues of more than Rs 3 crore. On Thursday, when the Chennai and Hyderabad teams were practicing, the power supply was abruptly stopped. However, the organisers temporarily installed a generator and provided electricity in the stadium for the practice to continue.

The TSSPDCL had given several notices to the HCA for clearing the dues. The first notice to clear due of Rs 1.63 crore was issued in February 2024. Despite follow ups, the HCA remained muted. Previously, the HCA had approached the High Court with a plea to delay the payment.

Fans are now concerned if the power outage could affect the SRH vs CSK match on Friday.
