HYDERABAD: Telangana Drugs Control Administration busted the unlicensed manufacturing of the cosmetic 'Sunscreen Lotion' at a manufacturing unit in Jeedimetla and seized stocks worth Rs. 2.5 lakhs during the raid.
Esthetic Insights Private Limited, located in Jeedimetla, was engaged in the unauthorised manufacturing and sale of sunscreen lotion under the brand 'Dermasonique DSN Aquasolar' Sunscreen SPF 50 PA++, operating without the requisite cosmetic license for the product.
Acting on gathered intelligence, officials from the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana conducted a raid on the cosmetic manufacturing facility named 'Esthetic Insights Private Limited', situated in Jeedimetla, Gajularamaram Village, Qutubulapur Mandal, Medchal district on March 15-16, 2024.
Raids found unlicensed cosmetic 'Sunscreen Lotion' production and sale, violating BIS standards and requiring a 'Cosmetics License' from the Drugs Control Administration in compliance with the standards established by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
DCA officials seized large quantities of cosmetic 'Sunscreen Lotion' 'Dermasonique DSN Aquasolar Sunscreen SPF 50 PA++' from Shaik Saifulla, Director of Esthetic Insights Private Limited.
A total of Rs. 2.5 lakh worth of stocks were seized during the raids. The raid was carried out by officers from DCA, including Assistant Directors Quthbullapur, Khammam, Jeedimetla, Habsiguda, and Mehdipatnam.
Further investigation will be conducted, and appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the law against all the offenders involved.

In a separate event, Telangana Drugs Control Administration seized overpriced anti-fungal medicine 'ITRA-100 Capsules' (Itraconazole Capsules 100 mg) at Vikarabad - MRP indicated is very high compared to the ceiling price fixed for the product by the Central Government.

ITRA-100 Capsules, a 100mg Itraconazole product, is subject to price control under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013 and the 'Ceiling Price' set by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority.
The siezed product 'Itra-100 Capsules' (Itraconazole Capsules 100 mg), manufactured by Nuvista Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. and sold by BioDrugs & Pharmaceuticals in Solan, Himachal Pradesh. The product's label displayed a price difference of Rs. 250 for 10 capsules, violating the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013.
The Central Government has fixed a ceiling price of Rs. 16.67 per capsule for the "Itraconazole Capsules 100 mg" product.
The maximum retail price (MRP) for one capsule, including GST 12 percent, should not exceed Rs. 18.69.
The firm violated the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, by charging an excess of Rs. 63.10 for 10 capsules. The raid was carried out by officers such as K. Anil Kumar, Assistant Director of Serilingampally, A.N. Kranthi Kumar, Drugs Inspector of Vikarabad, and K. Anvesh, Drugs Inspector of Shabad.
Further investigation will be conducted and all offenders will be subjected to legal action. Essential Medicine prices must adhere to Central Government ceilings, and overpricing is a violation of Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013 and requires legal action.
