HYDERABAD: Former minister Harish Rao condemned the arrest of the unemployed and student union leaders trying to protest peacefully in front of the TGPSC on Friday.

“Don't the unemployed have the right to protest peacefully in the so-called People's Government? Don't they have the right to voice their opinion?” Harish Rao said.

He pointed out that the Revanth Reddy Government was conspiring to undermine the rights of the people. “The Congress Government has brought the students, who must be studying onto the streets for jobs to the brink of dharnas and agitations,” Harish Rao observed.

Assuring the students that the BRS would stay with them in their fight for employment demanded the immediate release of arrested student union leaders and the unemployed.

In a separate statement, former Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy said that there was an undeclared emergency in Telnagaa under the Congress Government.

“Revanth Reddy said that the fences of Pragathi Bhavan were broken. Now the whole city is in ruins. The Congress Government is feeling insecure even if the unemployed say they will protest peacefully. The same unemployed were exploited before the election,” Niranjan Reddy said.

He questioned the promises made by the Congress after coming to power. “Not a single post has been increased in addition to the posts announced in the BRS Government. The Government should fulfill the demands of the unemployed immediately,” the former Minister said.
