HuT terror case: Bhopal ATS detains two more suspects in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Two more terror suspects were picked up from Babanagar and Chandrayangutta areas of Hyderabad in a joint operation by the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) of the Bhopal Police, Hyderabad Task Force and Telangana Counter-Intelligence unit on Monday.

With this, the total number of suspects arrested in an Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) case registered in Madhya Pradesh and involving terror outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT), rose to 19. In an earlier crackdown last week, six terror suspects were apprehended from Hyderabad while 11 others were already arrested in Madhya Pradesh.

The ATS of the Bhopal Police brought about five terror suspects back to Hyderabad as part of their investigation under custody and scene reconstruction. Based on the information revealed by the five suspects, the joint operation was carried out on Monday resulting in the detention of two more from Babanagar and Chandrayangutta areas.

According to reports, the person who was picked up from Chandrayangutta was being interrogated at an undisclosed location. The police have reportedly ascertained that the six suspects arrested earlier from Hyderabad had been passing on critical information about their terror plot to this person. The investigation in the city has been going on with the support of the Hyderabad City Police Task Force and the Telangana Counter-Intelligence unit.
