HYDERABAD: Heavy rains lashed parts of Hyderabad on Sunday evening, leading to waterlogged roads and heavy traffic jams in the city. Commuters driving two-wheelers and four-wheelers were seen struggling to navigate through water-filled roads.

By 5 p.m. on Sunday, thunderclouds approached from the North and West directions. Areas like Qutubullapur, Alwal, Cantonment, Malkajgiri Kapra, Khairtabad, Rajendra Nagar, and surrounding areas witnessed light to moderate rain for a couple of hours.

Moderate rain and thunderstorms were observed in Khairatabad, Rajendra Nagar, Charminar, Abids, OU, Uppal, and surrounding areas, while light rain and thunder showers occurred in Kukatpally, Serilingampally, Qutubullapur, Alwal, and surrounding areas over the next couple of hours.

Heavy waterlogging in areas such as Saifabad, Nallakunta, Deewandoudi, RUB Malakpet, Kachiguda, Goshamahal, Amberpet, PVNR Expressway, and Rajendranagar caused significant traffic jams and slow traffic movement. Traffic cops from various police stations were assisting in clearing the waterlogged roads to ensure smooth traffic flow and to minimize inconvenience to commuters.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for the next three days, indicating that thunderstorms with rain accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places in the following districts of Telangana: Adilabad, Komarambheem, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, and Kamareddy.

June 24 (Yellow): Thunderstorms with rain accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komarambheem, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal districts of Telangana.

June 25 (Yellow): Thunderstorms with rain accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komarambheem, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, and Medchal Malkajgiri districts of Telangana.
