Hyderabad police apprehend robber, recover stolen ear studs worth Rs. 70,000

HYDERABAD: The East Zone Team of the Commissioner's Task Force, in collaboration with the OU city police, apprehended a robber Orsu Giri on Tuesday for stealing ear studs from an elderly woman. The police recovered a pair weighing approximately 10 grams valued at Rs. 70,000 from his possession.
Orsu Giri, aged 38 and employed as a laborer, resides in Maniskeshwar Nagar, OU City, Hyderabad. He was habituated to consuming toddy at compound at Lalapet regularly.
On April 27, 2024, at the Lalapet Toddy compound, Giri approached a 65-year-old woman from Lalapet and convinced her to join him at the Adikmet Toddy Compound for higher-quality toddy. Trusting his invitation, the elderly woman accompanied Giri, boarding an RTC bus at Lalapet and getting off at Manikeshwari Nagar in Amberpet
They then walked towards the Adikmet Flyover. Upon reaching a secluded area near the Sports Authority Cycling Velodrome main gate, Giri forcefully stole the woman's ear studs, causing injuries to her ear.
Giri fled the scene while the victim was found injured on the footpath. A passerby discovered her and promptly reported the incident to the OU city police. Subsequently, a case was registered under Cr.No 204/2024, U/s 392 IPC at the city police station, initiating an investigation.
During the ongoing investigation, on April 29, 2024, the Commissioner's Task Force East Zone Team, in collaboration with the OU city police, apprehended Giri at Manikeswari Nagar while he was attempting to dispose of the stolen ear studs.
Giri had previously been involved in case number 638/2012, U/s 324 IPC at Alwal police station. The apprehended suspect, along with the seized property, was handed over to the SHO OU city police for necessary legal action.
