Hyderabad police arrest four persons making, selling adulterated ginger-garlic paste

HYDERBAD: The Central Zone Task Force police and Begumpet police have arrested one person and seized adulterated ginger-garlic paste being sold to customers.

On receipt of credible information, the police laid a trap at Patigadda in the limits of Begumpet police station and apprehended one Panduranga Rao of Begumpet and found adulterated and noxious ginger-garlic paste stored illegally and being sold to customers.

On the lead provided by Panduranga Rao, the police conducted a raid on the manufacturing and trading den of adulterated ginger-garlic paste situated at Upperpally in Rajendranagar and apprehended its owner by name Raheem Charaniya, proprietor of Deccan traders.

The police also raided two shops at Begum Bazar and apprehended marketing agents by name Ajay Kumar Aheer, proprietor of Telangana agency, Pradeep Sankla, proprietor of Nikil traders.

The police said that the accused persons were indulging in adulterating the ginger-garlic pasts and marketing it as genuine product by cheating to gain easy profits illegally.

Material seized

The police seized huge quantity of adulterating material along with spurious components, chemicals, packing, and sealing machines.

One of the accused persons Raheem Charaniya, a native of Gujarat migrated to Hyderabad a few years ago and settled at Begumpet. He was trading on the name of M/s. Deccan Traders. With a view to gaining easy money through illegal means, he had established manufacturing machinery at Upperpally in Rajendranagar.

The police said that he was manufacturing adulterated ginger-garlic paste by using undisclosed/unnamed chemical, a red-coloured powder by using citric acid, and spurious components. The paste so manufactured was being supplied to various kirana and general stores as a genuine product and began gaining huge profits in illegal manner. He engaged agents by name Panduranga Rao ( Begumpet) Ajay Kumar Aheer and Pradeep Sankla (Begum Bazar) and through them began trading the adulterated product.

He was also found to have been supplying adulterated material in and around Telangana and other States.

The police said that the adulterated ginger-garlic paste was hazardous to human health. The spurious and toxic material could cause serious health problems even if consumed in small amounts.
