Hyderabad police auctioned 1,641 abandoned vehicles for Rs 92,70,000
Owing to their deteriorating state, a number of the unclaimed vehicles can only be sold to scrap dealers
HYDERABAD: As many as 1,641 seized and abandoned vehicles were auctioned off at the Goshamahal police grounds on Thursday under the supervision of Hyderabad Commissioner CV Anand.
During the auction, M.Srinivas, Jt. CP CAR HQ, addressed the bidders, most of whom were from the automobile business, and urged them to bid in a fair manner
A total of 1,641 vehicles were auctioned, with 1,598 abandoned/unclaimed scrap vehicles (1,561 two wheelers, 25 three wheelers, and 12 four wheeler vehicles) of Hyderabad City auctioned for Rs.83,00,000 in scrap condition and roadworthy condition (43) two wheelers auctioned for Rs. 9,70,000.
The auction resulted in a total of Rs. 92,70,000 from the sale of 1,641 vehicles, which would be deposited in the Govt Treasury.
Police reported that owners were hesitant to collect their vehicles, some in poor condition, making them only sellable to scrap dealers despite being informed through the media. Owing to their deteriorating state, a number of the unclaimed vehicles can only be sold to scrap dealers.
