Hyderabad police nab robber who held pregnant woman hostage for 6 hrs in Jubilee hills, Rs 9,50,000 recovered
After taking the money, he booked an OLA cab from the victim's phone
HYDERABAD: The Jubilee Hills police department on Tuesday unearthed a well-planned robbery case and captured a notorious criminal who held a pregnant woman captive and kept her locked in her house for more than six hours while threatening to kill her with a sharp knife.
The police recovered Rs. 9,50,000 in cash and a knife from accused Patel Motiram Rajesh Yadav, who stole Rs 10,000,00 on May 12, 2023 from road number 52 in Jubliee Hills, Hyderabad.
According to the police, 26-year-old Patel Motiram Rajesh Yadav, a Customer Service Specialist at DELL Company in Madhapur, planned and committed a Rs. 10,00,000 robbery in Jubliee Hills by tresppasing into the house and using dangerous weapons to cause grievous harm to the residents.
On May 12, Rajesh Yadav climbed a ladder to the terrace and entered the apartment from behind. He spotted the victim lady in one of the bedrooms and locked her in by threatening to kill her with a sharp knife.He first demanded a cash Rs. 20,00,000 and confiscated all of the smartphones and put them into flight mode.
The family members of the victim collected Rs 10,00,000 and gave it to Rajesh. After taking the money, he booked an OLA cab from the victim's phone.
Around 10:20 a.m., an OLA cab (Tata Indica) arrived at their house, and he fled from Jubliee hills and went towards Shadnagar. While leaving the house, he threatened the victim and her mother again not to tell the police or he would kill them.
Since the victim and her mother were in shock, they went to Jubilee Hills police station one and a half hours after the intruder had in the cab. Jubliee Hills police registered a case under Cr.No. 294/2023 U/s 392, 458 IPC based on the complaint.
Six special teams, comprising Law and Order, Task Force, CCS, and IT Cell, were formed to track down the thief under the immediate orders of Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand.
Footage from several CCTV cameras in Jubliee hills and Shadnagar was analysed and investigated. His phone records were also analysed, and a 360 degree verification/investigation was conducted to track down Rajesh.
On May 29, 2023, B. Srinivas, DI of Police, along with a crime team apprehended the accused at Yadagiri Palli, Keesara and brought him to PS Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, where he confessed to the offence. They recovered Rs. 9,50,000 in cash and a knife used in the conduct of the crime, as well as a black colour hoodie with cap from the accused's possession.
The Hyderabad city police have urged citizens to install CCTV cameras at every entry and departure points across the streets in order to identify the attackers, as well as modern technology security gadgets that inform the police and other family members in such instances. The city police also urged the deployment of night security guards, either individually or collaboratively.
