Hyderabad police raids belt shops, apprehends seven, seizes 96.5 liters of liquor

HYDERABAD: The sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force on Sunday conducted a raid on the belt shops across various police jurisdictions in Hyderabad.

The raids took place in the limits of Kulsumpura, Chatrinaka, Musheerabad, and Kachiguda Police Stations. During the operation, they apprehended seven accused persons and seized a total of 96.5 liters (242 IMFL bottles) from their possession.

Four cases were registered: one in Kulsumpura police station, two cases in Chatrinaka police station, and one case in Kachiguda police station.

The accused were identified as Vineeth Singh (21), a resident of Karwan; Durgam Chandrashekar (18), a resident of Phoolbagh; and A Ravi Kumar (28), a resident of Secunderabad. The police seized 96.5 liters of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) in 242 bottles, worth Rs. 1,12,000, from their possession.

During interrogation, the accused individuals revealed that they were purchasing liquor from local liquor shops and selling it at higher prices during nighttime to make illegal profits. The accused persons have been handed over to the respective police stations for further legal action.

The city police issued a stern warning against involvement in illegal activities and said that further raids will be continued to bust illegal activities.

The operation was supervised by A Srinivas Rao, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, Hyderabad, along with Inspectors S. Bala Swamy (South West Zone), D. Venkat Reddy (South East Zone), A. Nagarjuna (East Zone), Shaik Jakeer Hussain (South Zone), and staff of Commissioner’s Task Force Hyderabad.
