Jubilee Hills police arrest old man for killing boy, throwing body into Nala

The Jubilee Hills police on Sunday resolved a mystery surrounding the death of a 11-year-old boy.

HYDERABAD: The Jubilee Hills police on Sunday resolved a mystery surrounding the death of a 11-year-old boy. The police identified clues pointing to his murder and suspected an old man of perpetrating immoral acts on the boy. 

The boy raised an alarm objecting to the atrocious behaviour of the assailant. 

The old man shut the mouth of the boy and killed him by asphyxiation. 

The police took the old man into custody. Details of the accused are yet to be known.

It may be recalled that the 11-year-old boy, who went missing while playing near his residence in Jubilee Hills on February 13, Tuesday, night, was found dead in a nala passing through a GHMC park closer to the boy’s house. The police retrieve the body the next day. 

Initially the police felt that the boy, was engrossed in his play and accidentally slipped into the stream and drowned. Identified as a third-grade student of a private school in Krishna Nagar, the boy stayed in Durga Bhavani Nagar on Road No. 5, Jubilee Hills.

The parents grew anxious as the boy had not returned till late on Tuesday and lodged a complaint with the police. His parents, who had initiated a search for him, lodged the complaint around 11 pm the same night. 

The police had registered a missing case and begun investigation suspecting it to be a kidnap. 

The next morning, search teams received information about a body in the nala.

Jubilee Hills inspector K Venkateshwar Reddy disclosed that the boy's body was discovered in the drain, which had been opened for a cleanup operation to remove debris and sediment. 

Subsequently, the case was changed as a suspicious death, and the body was handed over to the family after an autopsy.

 "The exact cause of death will only be determined after the post-mortem examination report," said Reddy at that time.

But, much to the surprise of the police, they detected that the old man had killed the boy for refusing to accede to his excesses.
