VIJAYAWADA: Kollywood stalwart Kamal Haasan on Friday unveiled a life-sized statue of veteran actor Ghattamaneni Krishna in the KDGO Park in Guru Nanak Colony here. After unveiling the statue, he expressed his pleasure and recalled his memories with the veteran actor.

Kamal Haasan was in Vijayawada for the last couple of days as he was shooting for the next schedule of ‘Indian 2’ movie. YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Vijayawada East constituency incharge Devineni Avinash and deputy mayor Bellam Durga were present during the installation of Ghattamaneni Krishna’s statue.

Avinash expressed his gratitude to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for facilitating the installation of Krishna's statue within a short span of ten days. He also thanked Kamal Haasan for making an effort to stay in Vijayawada for the unveiling of a statue despite his busy schedule.

Fans of Ghattamaneni Krishna and Mahesh Babu were thrilled to witness the life-sized statue of the veteran actor in Vijayawada, especially as it coincides with his first death anniversary to be held in a week.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Mahesh Babu said, “Heartfelt gratitude to Kamal Haasan Sir and Devineni Avinash for gracing the inaugural event of Krishna garu's statue in Vijayawada. Truly honoured to have them unveil Nanna garu's statue, a homage to the legacy he left behind. Also, a big thank you to all the fans from the bottom of my heart who made this event possible! Humbled by all the love.”
