Karnataka Deputy CM Shiva Kumar lauds waste-to-energy plants of GHMC
Shiva Kumar accompanied by BBMP officials visited the waste-to-energy plant at Jawahar Nagar as well as the modern garbage transfer station at Jagadgirigutta
HYDERABAD: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shiva Kumar during his visit to Hyderabad lauds waste-to-energy plants maintained by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
Shiva Kumar accompanied by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner Tushar Girinath and other senior officials, visited the waste-to-energy plant at Jawahar Nagar as well as the modern garbage transfer station at Jagadgirigutta on Saturday. The GHMC installed a 20 MW waste-to-energy plant at the dumpyard and another 25 MW plant is also being installed.
During his visit, Shiva Kumar and BBMP officials studied the better sanitation practices being followed by the GHMC. The officials briefed him on the practices followed for waste management and segregation of wastes. After inspecting the waste-to-energy plant, Shiva Kumar enquired about the management of solid waste and the generation of electricity from garbage and other aspects at the Jawahar Nagar plant.
Later, Shiva Kumar also visited the garbage secondary collection and transfer station in Jagadgirigutta.
