HYDERABAD: City-based startup EarthenTunes is showing its specialty in making shoes from Dakini wool (Ghongadi). Recently, the company launched stylish and lightweight YAAR shoes and showed them to Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR).

First of its kind, YAAR shoes were designed specifically for Indian conditions using ethically sourced indigenous wool directly from artisans. Founded by the alumni of the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, Santosh, Vidyadhar and Nakul, EarthenTunes is a social enterprise presently trying to build a better India for the future. EarthenTunes has been incubated at T-Hub.

Currently, these stylish shoes are impressing the city dwellers and also prove to be perfect for farmers even for agricultural work. These unique shoes were crafted from handwoven Ghongadi blankets directly sourced from Narayankhed and Jogipet weavers. Even if they were dried by the sun or drenched in the rain, their durability does not decrease at all, the company representatives say.
