KTR lays stone for Daifuku, Nicomac; urges Japanese firms to setup industrial cluster in Chandanvelly

HYDERABAD: Telangana Minister for IT and Industries KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Friday said that the rapid development of Japan and its culture was an inspiration for Telangana's future.

KTR participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for new factories of Daifuku Intralogistics India and Nicomac Taikisha at Chandanvelly in Rangareddy district.

Speaking on the occasion, KTR said, “Despite negligible natural resources and repeatedly prone to natural calamities like tsunamis and earthquakes, Japan has bounced back every time it was hit, including by a nuclear attack, and has grown to become a force to reckon with. There is something new to learn every time one goes to Japan.”

He mooted an idea and welcomed the Japanese firms to set up a Japanese industrial cluster at Chandanvelly.

KTR said that every home in India would have a Japanese product.

Recalling having a Sony Walkman in his childhood, he said such was the respect people here had for Japanese products. The Minister thanked the management of Daifuku, Taikisha for choosing Telangana over other options and planning to complete work on the factory and launch operations in 14 months.

“The two companies will invest around Rs 575 crore and generate around 1,600-2,000 direct jobs in Telangana, along with at least 4,000 indirect jobs, prioritizing hiring local candidates for these positions,” KTR said.

The Minister expressed his delight as Daifuku adopted ITI in Vikarabad, ensuring training and opportunities for the youth. Highlighting the potential for the Chandanvelly area to become a crucial industrial cluster in Telangana, KTR said that marquee names like Welspun, Microsoft and Amazon were already operating from Chandanvelly.

Apart from that, companies ranging from those specialising in textiles to electric vehicles were choosing this region as their hub, he said.

KTR also requested cooperation from the Japanese Consulate to set up a cluster at Chandanvelly exclusively for Japanese companies.
