May Day gift: KCR announces Rs 1,000 salary hike to sanitation workers in Telangana

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced a 'May Day Gift' to all sanitation workers in Telangana on Monday, hiking their monthly salary by Rs 1,000 each.

The pay raise, which would benefit up to 1,06,474 sanitation workers, would take effect immediately.

All sanitation workers in the state's municipal bodies, and village panchayats, GHMC and HMWS&SB would receive monthly increase.

Chief Minister KCR stated that the state government was dedicated to the welfare and development of sanitation workers by recognising the efforts and sacrifices made since the inception of Telangana state with the phrase 'Safai Anna Niku salaam Anna' (Hats off to sanitation workers).

The Chief Minister stated that the state government was committed to the well-being of every single worker in the state. It was also decided to raise the wages of TSRTC staff, and the Finance Department was directed to take appropriate measures in this regard, according to KCR.

The Chief Minister praised sanitation workers for their efforts in attaining qualitative development in Telangana's villages and towns. The Chief Minister also congratulated the workers for winning numerous awards by Telangana villages and municipalities at national and international level.

According to the Chief Minister, the development of villages and towns in Telangana State had changed significantly.

He said, there was a notable difference between previous and current conditions in villages and towns. The Chief Minister said that the government was well aware of the hardships of the workers and increased their salaries from time to time and stood by them.

On May Day, KCR expressed his delight while saluting the sanitation department for working with the same outlook and becoming stakeholders in the state's growth.
