MBBS student from Kerala dies by suicide in Visakhapatnam
A fourth-year MBBS student died by suicide by hanging herself at a lodge in Daba Gardens in Visakhapatnam on Friday
VISAKHAPATNAM: A fourth-year MBBS student died by suicide by hanging herself at a lodge in Daba Gardens in Visakhapatnam on Friday. The deceased was identified as Ramesh Krishna, a native of Olarikkara in Kerala.
According to police, Ramesh Krishna was pursuing a fourth-year MBBS course in China. She came to her home town in Kerala on vacation. On August 13, Ramesh Krishna left her hometown and reached Visakhapatnam on August 18 and stayed in a lodge in Daba Gardens. On August 19, she vacated the lodge and came back on August 24. She was supposed to check out the lodge on Thursday but did not come out of her room.
As she failed to respond, the lodge staff informed the police. Upon obtaining the information, a team of police personnel from Two Town station rushed to the lodge. The police broke the door and noticed Ramesh Krishna hanging from the ceiling by her chunni and in an unconscious state. The police noticed a suicide note beside her body written in Malayalam. In her suicide note, Ramesh Krishna didn't hold anyone responsible for her extreme step, but said, "She lost everything in her life", Two Town Circle Inspector (CI) Tirumala Rao.
The CI said that Ramesh Krishna vacated the lodge on August 19 and returned on August 24. "We are investigating the case from all possible angles to ascertain the actual reason for Ramesh Krishna taking the extreme step", he said. A suicide case was registered and Ramesh Krishna's parents were also informed about the incident, he added.
