Nalgonda Congress leader’s son arrested for killing wife in Himayatnagar

Vallabh Reddy and Lahari Reddy had constant quarrels and on the night of July 13, 2023, a fight escalated between them and continued into the following morning

HYDERABAD: The Narayanaguda police have arrested Yadavelli Vallabh Reddy the son of Congress leader Yadavelli Rangasai Reddy from Nalgonda, for allegedly murdering his wife at their residence in Himayatnagar in Hyderabad.

According to Narayanaguda CI Srinivas, the couple, Vallabh Reddy and Lahari Reddy (27) had constant quarrels and on the night of July 13, 2023, a fight escalated between them and continued into the following morning. Vallabh Reddy brutally attacked Lahiri by banging her head against the door and also kicking her in her stomach.

Upon realising that Lahari was severely bleeding and was in critical condition, Vallabh Reddy admitted her to the hospital, claiming that she had suffered a heart attack, but she succumbed to the grievous injuries. He lied that she died of a heart attack and even conducted a ceremony which was attended by more than 10,000 people on July, 24,2023.

Speaking to the media, Narayanaguda police said they started to suspect Vallabh Reddy as they received contradictory information from witnesses. The police received a call from Hyderguda Apollo Hospital reporting a suspicious death, while the victim's parents stated that their daughter died due to a fall caused by seizures and heart-related issues.

Stating that they have registered a case under section 174 of a suspicious death, the CI said that have registered a case under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (tampering with evidence) after concluding that there was no history of seizures to the deceased and arrested Vallabh.

The police mentioned that the accused came from a well-known family and has a history of short temper. Police also suspected that Vallabh had threatened the victim's parents not to disclose any details about the incident.

Meanwhile, Jaipal Reddy the father of the deceased denied the charges made against his son-in-law and said that his daughter died of health issues. He said that he had neither complained to the police nor given any statement to the police on the death of his daughter. He said that all the charges made against his son-in-law have to be proved in court.

Lahari's mother claimed that they had no doubts about Vallabh Reddy and asserted that the news circulating in the media over daughter's death were  untrue. She said that the police were misleading the media to put the blame on Vallabh Reddy and his family and opined that the latter's family took good care of her daughter. She said her son-in-law was a nice person.
