HYDERABAD: Following a protest by female students at Osmania University (OU) over water scarcity on campus, the OU administration has declared summer vacation on Monday.
According to a notice issued by Osmania University, the campus hostels and messes will be closed from May 1, 2024, to May 31, 2024.
The university administration has reportedly made this decision due to water and electricity shortages in the hostels caused by severe summer conditions. The administration has requested all boarders to cooperate in this regard.
Former Telangana Chief Minister and BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao, recently joined 'X' (formerly Twitter) and used the platform to raise his voice against water scarcity in Osmania University and across Telangana. He said, "The Telangana Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister have been misleading the people for the past four months regarding power, irrigation, and drinking water supply in the state. The notice from the Chief Warden of Osmania University confirms that all their claims were false. The truth is that there is a crisis of power, drinking water, and irrigation water in Telangana.
