Poll officials should adhere to ECI guidelines: Ronald Rose

HYDERABAD: District Election Officer and GHMC commissioner Ronald Rose has called upon the officials to exercise their duties as per the norms prescribed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and not their own whims and fancies.

Ronald Rose participated in a day-long training program for returning officers (ROs), special officers and constituency level training officers performing election duties at Dr Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute of Telangana (MCRHRDI) on Saturday.

Ronal Rose said that officials who were participating in the election duties should follow the election rules. The Election Commission drafted a Standard of Precedents (sop) for each aspect. Nominations, polling and counting were important procedures in elections. In case of any mistakes by the officials, the entire district would get a bad name and the officials who committed errors would not be spared, he said.

The district election officer also cautioned the officials during the election duties. Earlier, there were incidents of violations by officials in several districts of the State during the elections. Keeping this in mind, the officials should exercise their duties in a proper manner without giving any scope for violating the guidelines prescribed by the ECI, he said, and added that the polling officers (PO) should also adhere to the guidelines strictly.

GHMC additional commissioner Sneha Sabrish, Hyderabad district collector Anudeep and other officials were also present.
