Pregnant woman’s murder in Gachibowli: four given lifer by Kukatpally court

HYDERABAD: The VIth Metropolitan Sessions Judge at Cyberabad's Kukatpally delivered a stern judgment, sentencing Mamatha Jah, Vikas Kashyap, Amarkanth Jah, and Anil Jah to life imprisonment until their last breath.
The verdict comes in connection with the heinous act of brutally killing a 38-year-old pregnant woman in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, six years ago.
Pinky (38), known as Shalini, was brutally murdered while eight months pregnant. Her decomposed body, separated into seven parts, was discovered wrapped in two bags and left on the main road of Botanical Garden in Sriram Nagar Colony, under the Gachibowli police station's jurisdiction.
The Gachibowli police swiftly apprehended the four accused, Mamatha Jah, Vikas Kashyap, Amarkanth Jah, and Anil Jah, within a short span of 13 days in connection with the case. Three of the four accused hailed from Bihar, while one belonged to Uttar Pradesh.
The identification of the deceased posed a significant challenge due to the gruesome nature of the crime, involving the decomposition of her body into several parts.
A case was registered under sections 302, 201, 434 read with 120 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Gachibowli police station.
The police meticulously strengthened their case by scrutinizing 65 witnesses. Key focus was placed on DNA cross-matching involving various physical evidences such as clothes, an electrical cutting machine, blood stains at the crime scene, the deceased's mother, and the fetus.
A total of 81 material objects (evidences) directly associated with the accused were meticulously collected. The reliability of the case was further reinforced by 16 CCTVs, which were proven to connect the crime vehicle and the accused. This validation was confirmed by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) expert when the accused were physically produced in the Forensic Science Laboratory through court proceedings.
The four accused had been in jail for six years, and during this time, they faced 18 bail objections in both the Sessions and High Court.
On January 5, 2024, the VIth Metropolitan Sessions Judge at Cyberabad, Kukatpally, pronounced a life sentence until the last breath for all four accused, delivering justice to the victim.
