QNET fraud: 3 arrested, Rs 54 cr in bank accounts frozen

HYDERABAD: The Central Crime Station police have successfully apprehended three individuals involved in the QNET fraudulent marketing practices case. The accused persons are Gummadilli Rajesh, Maneesh Katti, and Syed Ajmal Mehdi Sajjad all residents of Hyderabad.

These individuals were associated with two different fraudulent companies QNET and E-store India. The accused established a bogus company named V-Empire at Swapnalok complex, Secunderabad, and collected money from unemployed youth and innocent members of the public, promising high returns.

The prime accused, Rajesh in collusion with others, conducted motivation classes and lured victims in the name of e-commerce business with the promise of monthly returns ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 60,000, based on investments ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.5 lakhs.

During the investigation, 150 victims were examined, and their collective loss was estimated at Rs 3 crores. Additionally, 35 bank accounts belonging to Vihaan Direct Selling Pvt. Ltd. and others, containing Rs 54 crores, have been frozen.

The accused through E-store individuals enticed innocent people to invest Rs 8,991  each. They were promised a monthly payment of Rs 1,100 for a period of 36 months. Through the Super Market Scheme victims were encouraged to invest a minimum of Rs 25 lakhs to establish a super market. These fraudulent schemes have attracted 44 individuals from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. As part of the investigation, five accounts belonging to the accused individuals, containing Rs 6.5 crores, have been frozen.

Burglar arrested, Rs 18.5 lakh gold, silver recovered

The Falaknuma police station crime staff, South Zone Hyderabad apprehended one notorious habitual house burglar Mohammed Saleem aka Sunil Shetty. He was involved in 15 house burglaries under the jurisdiction of Hyderabad and Rachakonda Police Commissionerates. A total of 29 tolas of gold and 1.5 kg of silver ornaments some cash, totaling about Rs 18.5 lakhs was recovered.
