HYDERABAD: Rachakonda police nabbed four inter-state drug peddlers from Maharashtra and Odisha on Friday under the PD act. The four accused who started the drug racket for monetary gain were now lodged at Central Prison in Cherlapally.

The accused were acquiring Ganja in huge quantities from Odisha and concealing it under tender coconut cargo in a DCM van. They were acquiring Ganja from a supplier Karia in Malkangiri Dist, Odisha, and transporting it illicitly to Ahmednagar in Maharashtra.

Yogeshwar Dut Gaikwad, the drug kingpin, was selling the drugs in retail or wholesale to prospective customers for Rs 10,000 per Kilo. They were allegedly generating easy money. Initially, they invested money and split revenues from the sale of contraband. They even rented a DCM van for the purpose.

Based on a tip off, a joint operation of SOT and Alair Police apprehended the truck at Prakash Garden on NH 163 bypass road, Alair, and apprehended four drug peddlers, and recovered 900 kg of dry Ganja and a vehicle on October 3, 2022.
