HYDERABAD: Telangana Finance and Health Minister Tanneru Harish Rao on Thursday inaugurated the dialysis centre and the blood bank established at the Nampally Government Area Hospital in Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister gave an account of the reforms carried out by the Telangana government under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in the medical and health sector. He recalled the pathetic situation of the Telangana region in the undivided Andhra Pradesh where there were only three dialysis centres. After the formation of Telangana, the number has been enhanced to 102, he claimed.

Harish Rao also said that the Telangana government was constructing TIMS hospitals across the city besides setting up the Health City in Warangal to provide multi-specialty services by increasing the number of doctors.

Stating that deliveries in government hospitals increased to 64 percent from 30 percent, Harish Rao announced that the KCR Nutritional Kit program for pregnant women would be launched at a cost of Rs 250 crores next month. He said that about 6.5 lakh pregnant women will benefit from the programme.
