Saroornagar police crack theft case at Lalitha Jewellery, seize 190 gm gold worth Rs 12 lakh
On December 31, around 3 pm, she visited Lalitha Jewelers in Dilsukhnagar and asked a sales executive to show her gold chains.
HYDERABAD: The Saroornagar police have cracked the theft case where jewellery was stolen from Lalita Jewelry Shop under the jurisdiction of Saroornagar Police on December 31. The police have arrested the accused and seized gold jewellery of 190 grams worth Rs. 12 lakh.
The suspect in this case is identified as Gonela Gautami, wife of Kongari Narender, 24, from Jadcharla in Mahbubnagar district, who are residing in Bhupesh Gupta Nagar, Meerpet for the past year and works as a junior artist in films.
However, due to insufficient income from her work as a junior artist, Gautami decided to commit thefts in various shops. On December 31, around 3 pm, she visited Lalitha Jewelers in Dilsukhnagar and asked a sales executive to show her gold chains. During the interaction, the accused switched the original 24-gram gold chain with a fake one in the tray, ensuring the sales executive wouldn't suspect anything.
After leaving the shop, the sales executive realised the chain was fake and immediately filed a complaint with the Saroornagar police, providing evidence from CCTV footage. Based on the complaint and the CCTV footage, the police identified the suspect as Gautami from Bhupesh Gupta Nagar in Mirpet.
DCP Sai Sri of LB Nagar Zone stated that several cases had already been registered against the accused in Jubilee Hills, Mahankali, Kukatpally, Chaitanyapuri, and Saroornagar Police Stations. The DCP further mentioned that 190 grams of gold jewellery, by worth approximately Rs 12 lakhs, were seized from Gautami and sent to remand.
