BRS MLA from Secunderabad Cantonment G Sayanna passed away following a cardiac arrest on Sunday
HYDERABAD: BRS MLA from Secunderabad Cantonment G Sayanna passed away following a cardiac arrest on Sunday. He was admitted to Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad after his body sugar levels declined dangerously. The 67-year-old legislator breathed his last while being treated at the hospital.
Sayanna had been keeping a low profile within the party for some time due to a troubling kidney ailment. He was also said to be diabetic. His family members admitted him to the Yashoda Hospital a week back after his kidney ailment led to complications with his body sugar levels. The hospital doctors declared him dead at 1:45 pm on Sunday.
Sayanna started his political journey with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He was elected as an MLA on a TDP ticket thrice from the Secunderabad Cantonment seat in the undivided Andhra Pradesh between 1994 and 2009. He however was defeated in the 2009 elections in a YS Rajasekhara Reddy wave.
Later, after a separate Telangana state was formed, he was once again elected as TDP legislator from the same Cantonment constituency. In 2015, when Chandrababu Naidu was ruling Andhra Pradesh as the Chief Minister, he was appointed as a member of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board.
Subsequently, G Sayanna switched his loyalties from the TDP to the TRS (now BRS). In the 2018 elections, he defeated Sarve Satyanarayana of the Congress with a majority of 37,568 votes to be elected as the Cantonment MLA one more time.
KCR pays tributes to Sayanna, consoles bereaved family
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao visited the house of Sayanna in Ashok Nagar and paid homage to the departed legislator. He consoled the bereaved family members and conveyed his deepest condolences.
