HYDERABAD: SETWIN, an autonomous society formed in 1978, under the Department of Youth Services, will be operating EV buses in the city routes in a phased manner. This was disclosed by the Minister of Prohibition & Excise, Sports & Youth Services, Tourism & Culture Dr V Srinivas Goud.

Speaking at the launch of two new SETWIN buses in the Golkonda-Charminar and Secunderabad-Mehdipatnam routes today, the minister said that all the SETWIN buses that had completed 15 years of life would be replaced by new buses in tune with the emission norms.

He said that SETWIN was currently running 100 mini-buses in twin cities and slowly all of them would be replaced by electric vehicles. He said that the government had launched several programmes to provide gainful employment for the youth in the state.

“All the young men and women should benefit from the skill development programmes, launched by the government,” he said adding that the SETWIN operators must inculcate good relations with the passengers and improve the upkeep of the buses that they operate.

BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar and MEDWIN Managing Director K Venugopal Rao were also present.
