HYDERABAD: Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali has said that the state government has given priority for the modernization of police department in the state. The minister attended the medal distribution program at Ravindra Bharathi on Wednesday. As many as 281 police officers were awarded various service medals which were announced by the Central and State Governments to police officers who have shown the best performance in their duties.
Home Minister said that if the peace and security situation was better, the development and welfare programs could be properly implemented and the state would progress towards development. The Chief minister had given utmost priority to the modernization of the state police department and taken up large-scale recruitment after the formation of the state of Telangana.
Mahmood Ali said that new police zones, divisions, police stations and Narcotics Control Department were established. The command control tower with the most advanced technology had also been commenced. He observed that due to the better peaceful conditions prevalent in the state, many multinational companies started their operations in Hyderabad. Telangana Police became the most efficient police department in the country by implementing friendly policing, women security department, She Teams, Bharosa Kendras, establishment of CCTVs, closure of Matkas-Gambling centers, prevention of narcotics etc. and other such initiatives.
DGP Anjani Kumar said that these medals were the result of team work of not only those who worked under their jurisdiction but also due to the support of their family members. He noted that the police department played a major role in economic development. Police job was like a double-edged sword. He called upon the police officers to work with more dedication. He felt that these medals were a recognition of the best services rendered by the policemen who had been constantly performing their duties in the public service round the clock. He said that the Chief Minister was giving utmost priority to the police department as part of maintaining peace and security in the state.

Principal Secretary of Home Jitender, ACB DG Ravigupta, Police Housing Corporation MD Rajeev Ratan, Hyderabad CP CV Anand, Additional DGs Vijaya Kumar, Shika Goyal, Swati Lakra, Cyberabad CP Stephen Ravindra, IGs Kamalhasan Reddy, Chandra Shekhar Reddy, Shah Nawaz Kasim, Ramesh,... and other senior police officers attended this program.
