HYDERABAD: The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) along with Langar House police nabbed a six-member gang involved in narcotics smuggling on Thursday and confiscated 44 kg ganja, four cars and eight mobile phones worth Rs 1 cr from their possession.

V Veeranna, the main accused, is a resident of Gudur in Mahabubabad and an SSC dropout who completed his Diploma in EEE in 2013 at Annamacharya Institute of Technology and Sciences in Hyderabad.

He even worked at HDFC Bank in Ranigunj before leaving to join Narayana Techno School since he was unhappy with his pay at the bank, disclosed Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand at a press conference on Thursday.


According to the Commissioner, main accused Veeranna later on began assisting his uncle Tejavath Prashant Naik, who was in the ganja business. He procured and transported Ganja from the agency areas of Donkarai, Sileru, and Malkangiri to parts of Hyderabad and Maharashtra.

Veeranna purchased high-end vehicles like Tata Hexa, Fortuner and MG vehicles and hired a few drivers to help with ganja transport, and he used to accompany the four-wheeler carrying ganja through toll gates. Veerana, who made a lot of money selling narcotics, invested it in wine shops and supermarkets, said CV Anand.


Veerana apparently built a luxurious property in his hometown of Gudur and lived a lavish lifestyle from the amount he earned the sale of Ganja.

On August 16, 2023, as the accused persons were travelling in two cars transporting Ganja, a TSNAB members along with Langar House Police nabbed the accused persons and confiscated property based on credible information.

The accused persons along with seized material were handed over to SHO, Langer House police station in Hyderabad for further investigation, said Anand.
