HYDERABAD: Telangana health minister Damodar Raja Narasimha has taken a firm stance against food adulteration and lax hygiene standards in restaurants statewide.

Addressing a meeting of hotel associations at the esteemed Dr. BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat, minister Damodar Raja Narsimha highlighted the urgent need for stringent measures to curb food adulteration and ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe food to consumers.

Highlighting the cultural and culinary significance of Hyderabad, particularly its globally acclaimed Hyderabadi Biryani, Minister Damodar Raja Narsimha emphasised the pivotal role of the hospitality industry in enhancing the city's reputation as the culinary capital of India. With Hyderabad emerging as a prominent destination for medical tourism, the minister stressed the paramount importance of upholding impeccable hygiene and food safety standards to bolster the city's brand image.

In an effort to instill greater accountability and social responsibility within the hospitality sector, Minister Damodar Narsimha announced plans for regular awareness conferences and workshops to be conducted biannually. These initiatives aimed to empower hotel owners and staff with the knowledge and resources necessary to adhere to stringent food safety protocols and maintain exemplary hygiene standards.

The meeting saw the active participation of key stakeholders, including State food safety commissioner RV Karnan, director of food safety Dr. Shivalila, and representatives from various industry associations such as the Telangana State Hotels Association, National Restaurants Association, and Indian Dairy Milk Products Association, among others.
