HYDERABAD: After experiencing severe heatwaves over the past week in Telangana, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted some relief for the State. Thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) is very likely to occur at isolated places across Telangana from April 9, 2024.

According to the IMD, heatwave conditions are expected to prevail in isolated pockets in Wanaparthy and Jogulamba Gadwal districts of Telangana.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagital, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Medak, and Kamareddy districts of Telangana.

On April 9, 2024, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are expected to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Medak, and Kamareddy districts of Telangana.

On April 10, 2024, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are forecasted to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Peddapally, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy districts of Telangana.

Temperatures, which reached 40-44 degrees Celsius in some districts of Telangana in the last few days, are expected to decrease to 36-40 degrees Celsius in Hyderabad, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Wanaparthy, Jogulamba Gadwal, Kothagudem, and other districts as well.

Telangana Weatherman T Balaji said, 'April 7 will mark the end of the heatwave, with rural Telangana experiencing temperatures of 42-44°C, and Hyderabad reaching 41-42°C. Temperatures are expected to decrease starting from April 8, with complete relief anticipated from April 2024. Today, Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Jagtial, Peddapalli, and Bhupalpally are expected to receive rainfall during the night and morning.

"After an extremely hot day with temperatures ranging from 42-43°C, storms are finally beginning in North Telangana, particularly in Asifabad, Nirmal, and Mancherial. As the night progresses, storms are expected to intensify in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Peddapalli, and Karimnagar, mainly occurring around midnight to morning," he added.
