Truck driver jailed for 10 years for reckless driving resulting in two deaths

HYDERABAD: Mallsetty Yeshwanth, a 50-year-old truck driver, was sentenced to ten years in prison and fined Rs. 26,000 by the Ranga Reddy District Court in LB Nagar on Friday for reckless driving and negligence.

According to police reports, Mallsetty Yeshwanth, a 50-year-old lorry driver residing in Vikarabad, drove his vehicle recklessly and under the influence of alcohol at high speed on December 12, 2021, resulting in a collision with a roadside tree. The falling tree struck three individuals, including Suresh Kumar (27), who died at the spot. Another victim, Sreedhar, was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries during transit.

Based on the complaint of Nimmagadda Divakar, son of Sridhar, one of the deceased, Station House Officer (SHO) and Inspector Ramaiah filed a case under Section 304-II, 338 IPC & Sec 3 of PD PP Act, 183, 184, 185(A) MV Act and began the investigation.

After the inquiry was completed, they filed a charge sheet in the court. During the trial, the IX ADJ Court Ranga Reddy at LB Nagar convicted Mallsetty Yeshwanth and sentenced him to ten years in prison and a fine of Rs. 26,000.
