TSSPDCL issues advisory on electricity problems amid heavy rains

HYDERABAD: Amid heavy rains in Telangana disrupting normal life, TSSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director G Raghuma Reddy conducted a video conference with the Chief General Manager and Superintending Engineers of the company and reviewed the power supply situation in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, G Raghuma Reddy said that special control rooms had been established in every district/circle office which would be operating till the end of the rainy season and felt that he directed the officials to frequently monitor weather changes and to issue necessary instructions to field staff to ensure there was no rain-related power issues. Stressing the importance of availability of staff at the field level at all times, Raghuma Reddy issued precautions to be followed by people during the rainy season.

Here are the precautions.

1. People are advised to avoid standing under stay wires, power lines, and transformers during rains and to maintain a safe distance from electrical equipment such as wires, stay wires, transformers, etc. This precaution should also be extended to livestock and pets.

2. It is suggested not to step into the water when an electric wire is lying on the road or in water and should be immediately informed to the nearest electrical staff or contact the company using the numbers provided.

3. One must refrain from touching electric poles and live wires and should use only wooden or plastic pipes instead of conductive metal rods to protect yourself in the event of electric shock.

4. Staying vigilant about the electric wire that feed on tree branches, vehicles, and buildings.

5. People are advised to switch off all the electrical appliances whenever they witness any fluctuations in the power supply and inform the control room.

6. Consumers contacting the control room to report power outages should have their USC number, which is printed on their bill, readily available.

7. Residents living in low-lying areas and flood-prone regions should immediately inform electricity personnel when floods increase.

The TSSPDCL chairman said that the consumers could contact either the local fuse-off call office or the special control room of the electricity department through mobile numbers 7382071574, 7382072106, 7382072104 or through the company's mobile app, website, Twitter, and Facebook platforms for electricity related problems.
