HYDERABAD: In a tragic incident, two elderly women were killed after a speeding two-wheeler hit them while the duo were on their way for a morning walk in Bolarum in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Radhika (48), a resident of Risala Bazar, and Balamani Yadav (60), who belonged to Kalasiguda. The duo were friends for many years. According to police, the incident occurred around 5 am, when the women were on their way for a morning walk near Cantonment Board park in Bolarum.

All of a sudden, a youth, identified as Aditya, an IT employee and resident of Uppal, riding his two-wheeler at overspeed towards Shamirpet, hit them.

The duo sustained severe head injuries. However, Radhika died on the spot and Balamani Yadav succumbed while she was being shifted to the hospital in a 108 ambulance.

Upon obtaining the information, a team of police personnel rushed to the spot. The deceased were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem. A case was registered against Aditya after examining the CCTV footage of the ghastly accident. Further investigations were underway into the matter, the police said.

Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on Bolarum, following the sudden death of Radhika and Balamani Yadav. The families of the deceased were inconsolable after the tragic incident.
