HYDERABAD: Cyber Crime Police of Rachakonda have arrested two Nigerians for making friends on social media platforms and duping people in the guise of sending gift parcels. The police also seized six mobile phones, one Wifi router, two passports, notebooks with hand written details of created social media profiles and Rs 1.78 lakh from them.

Rachakonda Commissioner of Police DS Chauhan on Wednesday said that the two accused were identified as Omenonye Sylvester (23) and Alimeke Endurance Chukkwuka (23). The investigation revealed that the accused were from Nigeria and they came to India separately on student VISAs and residing at Tilak Nagar police station limits, West Delhi. In a fraudulent way, the accused impersonated a European citizen, made friends with Divya through the Instagram ID Alex Williams. The accused duped her and collected Rs 3.63 lakh from her in the guise of sending a gift parcel, he said.

Based on the technical evidence collected, the police arrested the accused persons at Tilak Nagar in West Delhi on August 15 and sent them to judicial custody. Further, as per the preliminary technical analysis of the seized mobile phones, SIM cards, IMEI numbers of the accused, the police found that the accused were involved in cases at KPHB police station and Cyber Crimes in Cyberabad, Chadarghat police station and Cyber Crimes, Hyderabad and other NCRP petitions reported across India, the CP said.
