HYDERABAD: Two software engineers were duped of Rs. 27 lakh by fraudsters on the pretext of providing high returns for investments in Hyderabad.

The two software engineers hailing from Chilakalaguda and Punjagutta had received a message in the name of part-time jobs saying that they would get high income on online tasks.

As the duo expressed interest, they were added to the Telegram group and were assigned work. Upon completion of tasks, the fraudsters deposited Rs. 500 in the victims' accounts within hours and suggested to them to invest in their company on the pretext of providing huge profits.

The gullible software engineers had fallen prey and invested Rs. 15 lakh and Rs. 12 lakh respectively. However, as there was no response from the fraudsters, the victims approached the Cybercrime police and complained. The police registered a case and are investigating.
