Vestex Asia CEO Sanjay Shah dies in stage collapse tragedy at Ramoji Film City
Vestex Asia had organized a two-day event at Ramoji Film City to mark its successful 25 years in the industry
HYDERABAD: In a shocking incident, Sanjay Shah, the 56-year-old CEO and founder of Vestex Asia, passed away during an aerial act at the company's 25th-anniversary celebrations in Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City on Thursday.
Inspector A. Manmohan of Abdullahpurmet said that Vestex Asia had organised a two-day event at Ramoji Film City to mark its successful 25 years in the industry. Approximately 700 individuals gathered at Lime Light Garden to witness an aerial act around 7:40 pm on Thursday evening.
The unfortunate incident occurred on a specially-designed wooden stage elevated 20 feet above the ground, where a 6 mm iron wire snapped at one of the four corners, causing injuries to those below.
Following the collapse, both Sanjay Shah and Vishwanatha Raju Datla, the 52-year-old president of Vestex Asia, were directly affected. Sanjay Shah suffered injuries to his leg and hand, while Vishwanatha Raju Datla suffered a severe head injury due to the falling of the structure.
The injured were immediately taken to Maxi Cure Hospital and later shifted to Yashoda Hospital in Malakpet for better medical treatment.
Sanjay Shah, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries during the early hours of Friday at the hospital, while Vishwanatha Raju Datla remains in critical condition, receiving intensive medical care.
Inspector Manmohan registered a case against Ramoji Film City event authorities based on a complaint filed by Janakiram Raku Kalidindi, the executive director of Vestex Asia.
