War heroes remembered on Kargil Vijay Diwas at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad
‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’, named after the successful Operation Vijay, was celebrated with fervour at ‘Veerula Sainik Smarak’ on Wednesday
SECUNDERABAD: ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’, named after the successful Operation Vijay, was celebrated with fervour at ‘Veerula Sainik Smarak’ on Wednesday under the aegis of Telangana and Andhra Sub Area headquarters.
It was on this day in 1999, India successfully took command of the high outposts which were lost to Pakistani intruders. Since then, the day was celebrated every year to honour Kargil war heroes.
As part of the nationwide celebration, a wreath-laying ceremony was organised at Veerula Sainik Smarak, Army Parade Ground, Secunderabad. The military band and all the officers and soldiers attired in full ceremonial dress adoring glittering medals paid homage to the Bravehearts in uniform who laid their life in defending the Republic.
Major General Rakesh Manocha, General Officer Commanding, offered floral tributes to the war heroes. The sequence of the event started with a lot of fanfare and wreath laying by the junior most soldier followed by various other senior officers of the Station.
