HYDERABAD: Warangal Police Commissioner A V Ranganath on Monday confirmed that the reason for the death of Kakatiya Medical College PG student Preethi was ragging and clarified that there were no pieces of evidence to support the murder allegations.
In a briefing to the media, the Commissioner of police revealed the latest developments of a sensational case, which caused a stir. He said although the post-mortem report clarified that the victim Preethi died of a heart attack, it would be considered a death due to the ragging and harassment from the seniors.
The CP said that the police were striving to collect scientific evidences to prove the ragging allegations and made clear that senior PG student Saif would have to face imprisonment of 10 years as per section 306, if proved guilty.
Claiming that the cause of death couldn’t be ascertained with the toxicology report, the CP asserted they had to wait for the post-mortem report and confirmed that Preethi was mentally disturbed by the way she was treated by senior students.
