Watchman murdered for reprimanding co-worker for stealing scrap at Manchirevula
The deceased, identified as Jangaiah, worked as a watchman at a scrap godown in Manchirevula, while the accused, Arjun, was a construction labourer at the same location.
HYDERABAD: A watchman was murdered by a construction labourer in Manchirevula of Rangareddy district following a dispute over selling scrap by the latter without the notice of the owner.
The deceased, identified as Jangaiah, worked as a watchman at a scrap godown in Manchirevula, while the accused, Arjun, was a construction labourer at the same location. Arjun allegedly sold scrap without the owner's knowledge, and watchman Jangaiah reprimanded him for it. However, Arjun continued with the activity despite the warning.

The watchman later informed the owner about Arjun's actions, who warned the latter, leading to a confrontation between the two. On the day of the incident, which coincided with the Sankranti festival, Jangaiah and Arjun consumed alcohol together, and the dispute escalated, which led to an attack on Jangaiah by Arjun. Jangaiah died on the spot in the attack.
After the incident, the accused fled the scene, but residents promptly informed the police by dialing 100. The Narsingi police registered a case and shifted Jangaiah's body to Osmania Hospital for postmortem.
The police are investigating the case and efforts are on to apprehend the accused.
