HYDERABAD: Welspun World will be setting up a Rs 5,000 crore IT-enabled Industrial Warehousing and Logistics park in Chandanvelli of Rangareddy district that could create 50,000 jobs in five to seven years.
The announcement came at a function at the existing Welspun manufacturing unit in Chandanvelli in which IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao and BK Goenka, Chairman, Welspun World participated on Thursday.
Sintex BAPL Ltd., a Welspun World Company, signed a MoU with the Government of Telangana to set up a water tanks and PVC pipes manufacturing unit with an investment of Rs 350 crore. This project could create over 1,000 jobs. KTR and Goenka also participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the state-of-the-art production unit.
Expressing happiness over the confidence of Welspun in the Telangana Government, KT Rama Rao said that more than 26 percent of investments in Telangana came from repeat investors like Welspun. “We Keep the investors happy and they in turn will spread the word. We don’t organise vibrant summits like other States,” he said.
He assured Welspun that the State Government would establish a massive wastewater treatment plant adjacent to the 450-acre Welspun facility as desired by BK Goenka so that the treated water could be put to use in the production facility. KTR said that in Telangana the 'single window' approval system doesn’t have grills.
“Unlike other States where multiple windows open up in the name of faster file clearance, Telangana delivers what it promises,” KTR said. He urged the district administration to cooperate with the Welspun group in the faster implementation of CSR activities in the vicinity of Chandanvelli and Chevella.
Earlier, BK Goenka said that he chose Hyderabad and Telangana for further expansion, based on the fact that the city has a wonderful workforce. “The airport is nearby, there are so many engineering colleges that cater to our expanding industry,” he said comparing to Vapi in Gujarat where Welspun owned a manufacturing unit.
“We value our partnership with the Government of Telangana and as a group, we have been running our operations in the state successfully over the years. This project will create further employment in the state. Sintex is an iconic brand for its water tanks and forayinto the PVC pipes segment will strengthen our presence into the building material verticals further,” Goenka pointed out.
