HYDERABAD: In a shocking case, a 26-year-old woman teacher of Hyderabad allegedly eloped with a 10th class student of her school recently, in an attempt to pre-empt matrimonial trials by her parents. The incident reportedly happened on February 16 but came to light on Friday after the two returned home and the police counselled them.
The woman is a teacher at a private school in Chandanagar on the suburbs of Hyderabad and the boy, a resident of Gachibowli, is a 10th class student of the same school.
According to reports, the love-smitten duo went missing on February 16 prompting their families to lodge complaints at Chandanagar and Gachibowli police stations. However, as the teacher returned home after two days, her grandfather withdrew the complaint.
The 15-year-old minor boy also eventually came back home following which he was questioned by the Gachibowli police. It was revealed during questioning that the woman teacher and her ward were having a brief love affair which led to their elopement.
The police held counseling for both of them and suspected that the teacher had resorted to this shocking act as her family members initiated matrimonial efforts to get her married off.
