Women’s Day: CS, DGP hail SHE Teams at 2K, 5K Run on Necklace Road

HYDERABAD: Ahead of International Women's Day on March 8, a 2K and 5K run, themed ‘Embrace Equity’, was organised at People's Plaza on the Necklace Road in Hyderabad on Monday morning. Senior Telangana officials such as Chief Secretary Shanthi Kumari, DGP Anjani Kumar, Women Safety Wing Additional DG Shikha Goyal and Hyderabad CP CV Anand took part in the run that saw the participation of 5,000 women including students from different colleges of the city.

Speaking on occasion, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari expressed her happiness to participate in this event. Extending warm greetings to the SHE Teams, the Chief Secretary lauded them for their relentless efforts in preventing crimes against women. “SHE teams is the name in the entire country in terms of ensuring the safety of women,” she asserted.


DGP Anjani Kumar also complimented the efforts of the SHE Teams. He said that other states were taking inspiration from the initiatives of the Telangana Government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and that SHE Teams was one among them. He welcomed the appointment of Santhi Kumari as the first woman Chief Secretary of Telangana and said that it was a proud moment for the state.

The DGP took the opportunity to say that “Hyderabad is the safest city in the country” and retraced the journey and services of SHE teams.

CP CV Anand motivated the participants and promised that the safety of women always remained a top priority. He lauded the services of the women protection squad and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the officers in making the event a grand success.

Women Safety Wing Additional DG Shikha Goyal said that women were coming out without fear due to the presence of the SHE Teams spread across the state. She said that these all-women teams were working round-the-clock to ensure the safety of women.

The messages by the dignitaries galvanised the participants to show their solidarity for the cause of women empowerment and safety. Later, the chief guest presented medals to the winners and congratulated them.

All the senior officers of the Hyderabad City Police including Vikram Singh Mann, Additional CP, Law and Order; A R Srinivas, Additional CP, Crime and Investigation, SHE Teams and Bharosa; Sudheer Babu, Additional CP, Traffic and other police officials besides Hyderabad City Security Council (HCSC) staff took part in the run.
