HYDERABAD: A media van belonging to ABN Andhra Jyothi news channel was damaged and the crew members were beaten up allegedly by followers of YSRCP MP from Kadapa YS Avinash Reddy when they were trying to follow his convoy on Friday.

The MP was supposed to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case on Friday. However, he decided against attending the CBI office and was returning to Pulivendula to be on the side of his ailing mother. The media crew suspecting that he might not return to Pulivendula as announced decided to follow the MP hoping for a breaking news.

When the TV channel crew started following the MP’s vehicle, they were attacked by the goons apparently with an aim to stop them from following the YSRCP MP. ABN Andhrajyothi reporter Sashi who could be seen bleeding in the visuals circulating in the media groups said that the goons followed them in a white colour jeep and attacked the van.

The attackers surrounded the van, abused them, and broke the glasses of the van by banging them with stones. They later snatched the camera and broke it and punched the cameraman and the reporter. After their mission was accomplished, they fled on the same jeep that they have arrived.

Later the media representatives made a complaint to the Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan about the brutal attack on the crew. Responding to the complaint the governor said that attack on media covering the news was a dastardly act and action must be initiated on the perpetrators.
