Ahead of the protest, YS Sharimila addressed the media and made scathing remarks against the Telangana government citing that the atrocities on women were increasing in the state, and held the KCR government responsible for the pathetic situation.

She alleged that more than 20,000 atrocities were being reported against women every year in the state and said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao lacked sincerity to deal with the crimes against women.

Recalling various crimes on women, be it lock up the death of Dalit women, rapes in Hyderabad City, suicides over sexual harassment and rapes on minor girls, and attacks on women employees, YS Sharmila fumed at KCR and KTR alleging that the duo was limited only to making false promises, forgetting to implement the programs to protect the women. She accused KCR of not having respect for women, including the Governor, and opined that Telangana state had become a threat to women of all sections.

The YSRTP president further expressed anguish over the BRS leaders for making filthy remarks against her and attacking her. She also accused the BRS leaders of resorting to heinous crimes against the women.

Meanwhile, YS Sharmila responded to the notices served to Kalvakuntla Kavitha saying that the latter had damaged the dignity of the women and took a dig at her dharna to be held on Friday over the reservation to women in Parliament.

She advised Kavitha to ask her father to give more seats to women in the Assembly before staging a protest in Delhi on women's reservation.

She said that there was not a single scheme for the upliftment of women and asserted that all the schemes in the state had come to a standstill as the state was pushed into a debt with corruption. The YSRTP president said that people would teach a lesson to BRS government.
